With scholarlypubhub I hope to provide useful information for people interested in developments in academic and scholarly publishing.
Academic publishing is moving in some exciting directions at the moment. The established major presses are growing and consolidating, but at the other end of the scale there is a lot of activity around new ways of publishing and disseminating research. New university presses are being set up, many with a focus on open access. There is much discussion about how best to get research published; how to get it out there and how to get it discovered.
I offer freelance consultancy to scholarly publishers, and am particularly interested in collaborating with smaller academic presses. I specialise in marketing and strategy, but also have experience of production editorial.
My background is in academic publishing – I worked for Ashgate for 20 years, and before that I was at Manchester University Press. I am currently working with Medieval Institute Publications and Arc-Humanities Press.
